Dear Fabian,

Please stop the grousing removal of the bathroom tiles. You have just lost half of your hearing thanks to the screeching.

Love,

Lucid dreaming of fantasy May. 1st, 2011 @ 11:11 pm
Ok so quite often i get quite vivid and involved dream which almost mirrors reality.  This week I had one which left quite the impression on me and i swear it could have been made into a movie....one of those movies which did not have much of a plot but a movie nonetheless.

The story begins with a group of couriers delivering an unknowable object which has the potential to change a person completely.  Those who tried to use it for their own gain died or suffered horribly when exposed to the objects.  Of course there were those who decided to accept the object for what it is and seemed to be content with it. (Don't ask me how that works...it just does)  So the couriers embark on a perilous journey encountering heroes and villains all revolving the package.

At the end of the journey, the duo were on their last legs, dying from radiation and giving up on life when the package bestows upon them peace.

(Ok the first part wasnt really lucid so that was as close as i could get it, it gets better i swear!)

The scene changes to a group of intrepid adventurers searching for hidden magical artefacts around the world.  So they traipse along quests of treasure-hunting where they do just about everything in order to get hold of the items.

One moment they would be infiltrating weddings of rich people, and another moment they would combing the very bowels of the earth.

(I think i saw a car-chase scene as well! So heres where it gets really realistic and vivid for me)

In order to activate a particular object, a girl with a certain ability was needed. The girl could sing a powerful song of creation, summoning mystical purple flames which creates life, and....perhaps revived dead things? As she sang she created a whole new language known only to her and gave her all into it.

Her voice had a harsh but beautiful sound full of potential but as yet unrefined.  Even so, she still managed to harness the power and caused flowers to grow and bloom in a matter of moments while the artefact woke up.

Meanwhile the leader of the treasure hunters find himself in quite the predicament. Set up by a evil sadistic authorative figure, hes arrested on trumped up charges and is tortured while under confinement.

(wish i could add more, but i lack the words to describe all that i felt and saw in that dream)

So.....

I have the Western Taikai Kendo Competition coming up this Sunday.Have to say that I am pretty excited about it.  I think one of the  main reasons why I enjoy kendo is because I get to fight other people win or lose.  Is that what they call 'Hot-bloodedness?'  [info]dark_daebereth , you wouldn't happen to know a red-hair guy also named Michael would you?  He's also going to the medieval festival in Balingup and hes from UWA....

Anyway, I hope that I can still fight properly on Sunday considering that I really tore my feet up last night during training.  For viewing pleasure I decided to take a photo of the state of my foot. cut for disgusting photo of my foot )
I did not even realize the state of my foot only after the end of the training.  Once the adrenaline wore off, I started limping and trying not to put weight on the ball of my left foot.  Nigel felt sorry for me so he handed me a foot protector which i could use next time.  I'm hoping the package [info]h_jing_wen would arrive by 2day or tomorrow.  Then I could return the Tabi back to Nigel and use the one which was ordered.  If not, well.....looks like i'd have to ask for another order.

Anyhow, chances are on Sunday, I'll be fighting other people who are many grades higher than me which means that i'll lose the moment i take that step onto the battlefield.  Daunted? No, not really.  I intend to go in and enjoy the fight irregardless of what injury i have and just how much stronger the opponent may be.

At the risk of sounding cliched...

I FIGHT FOR FIGHT'S SAKE

In addition, I really am tempted that during the match, I want to do a Gerard Butler impression from 300

"THIS IS SPARTA!!"

But i've a feeling i'd be fouled for that so nah I wont risk it

The Western Taikai is on Sunday at Lords Subiaco, if anybody wants to see me beaten up.....feel free to come and spectate

Writer's Block: Who wants to live forever? Aug. 25th, 2010 @ 08:29 am

Would you want to live forever? Does your answer change depending on whether or not everyone else gets to live forever as well?

If everybody got to live forever, I think i would prefer death instead.  While I would like to see what kind of innovations develop and how Humanity progresses, it really would not be fun to see the same faces again and again.  Eventually we would get bored with each other and suicide then becomes preferable.

Besides, if we did not have a time limit, we'd have no incentive to progress and evolve.  Humanity would grow complacent in it's immortality.  Knowing that we would eventually die gives us the drive to accomplish things that would leave an everlasting mark on history that would be remembered.

It is because of our limitations that we are human (my attempt at sounding really profound)

im really starting to not like the floor at UWA REC centre.

After this kendo session, my entire left foot is sliced up at the bottom.  I counted 3 layers of skin ripped off.  The callous of dead skin, and then the other 2 layers beneath that are gone.  You would have thought they would fix the wooden floors by now considering how many people use it.  I've lost count how many times I stumbled over a small pothole or stubbed my feet in said holes.  Even my little toe is injured!!!

Tonight's session had Brestovac-sensei starting the beginner's course again while Bonar-sensei took us 'seniors'  ( I say senior because i have the armor but aside from that.....nothing special bout self).

What my senior said about beginner's progression is correct as i caught a glimpse today about what he meant.  Junko-san's daughter joined us today and she seemed really uncertain about attacking and well....there isnt that sense of aggression i get from the seniors.  I guess to them I seem like that not having that threatening aura around self.

On top of that, its alsom somewhat amusing seeing the beginners trying out kendo the first time as they attempt to get used to the footwork.  And then I remind myself that I was like that exactly a year ago.

Today's lesson was interesting as we were practicisng the different countering techniques and it was fairly instructional.  Frustating thing is that when slowed down, my countering goes completely wide off the mark as when Nigel tried to slow it down for me.....didnt really work and all that happened was me missing and getting thwacked over head.

I think Brestovac-sensei wanted to inspire the beginners more today in order to get more people interested so he made us do Kakari-gekko (is that how you spell it [info]h_jing_wen ?)

After that since it was William-sempai's birthday recently, the sensei decided to do a special round of momo-dachi(is that how you spell it again?) where people stood in a circle and William-sempai had to individually fight everyone in the circle until the final person was Brestovac-sensei himself.

Made me decide not to tell anybody in the kendo club when's MY birthday

In Tafe at the moment, learning about project management.  It's been awhile since i last posted

Im in 2nd semester for Diploma in Networking and cant say that i'm hating it.  The workload seems really impressive when compiled but its enjoyable work except for one or two but i dont mind doing those either.  My biggest problem when it comes to all of this, is my attention span.   One other lesson, I was too distracted by internet surfing *cough* facebook *cough*, that I missed out on quite an important lesson which i tried to learn by myself on wednesday night but unfortunately that failed.

Apparently the guys who did pay attention also had trouble understanding the lesson so Im not far behind but I'm still kicking myself for distracting myself that badly.  Still, its frustating when you cant learn something by yourself despite having lesson planouts and notes in front of you.

We had a Japanese Highschool teacher as a guest sensei at kendo and really last night was a good session.

From the looks of things, the only way for me to score hits on the opponent is if i step close in on and engage at close-quarters, maybe its to do with my height and my relatively slowness?  Even after all these months, I'm still hesitating when attacking which everybody keeps pointing out to me

Good to know for me but at same time, this makes me way too predictable for countering >_<

i'll write more about that later

so i havent been posting for awhile....well with kinda good reason....

Tafe just utterly kicked my butt what with all the mishaps i've gone through up to and including having 5 weeks of my project flushed down the toilet thanks to people reformatting my project hard drive unknowingly.....

Woe is me, and today i bombed my practical assessment for my hardware unit.  Its frustating when you feel like you know what might solve the problem but you run out of time...grah

Its been 2-3 weeks that i've donned the bougu for Kendo, and i have to admit that fighting in that....is exhausting.  I pride myself at having good stamina but when I look at the seniors spar constantly while im panting and wilting under the armour, i feel utterly ashamed.  I still have the problem of following through the cuts. I know i should run through but somehow i dont have the energy to do it...its embarrasing

Happy holidays and merry XMAS PEOPLE!!!

Posting from china where youtube and facebook has been banned T_T

Well, so far the family landed in GuangZhou on the 24th, and we've made our way in to Zhangjiajie, and we got our first White Christmas! Definitely worth the scolding from my dad when we decided to stand under a snow-laden tree and shake all the snow down on top of us.....mom joined in too...XD looks like she gets to fulfill a childhood dream of hers but hey come on....those of us in the tropical areas dont really get the opportunity to spend a winter with snow.

Hope everybody is having fun times!
